The Government’s £11 billion scheme to install 53 million smart meters in homes and small businesses by the end of 2020 has been plagued by problems.
Now it appears there may be more hidden nasties. A wireless tech expert says they have the power to take over customer accounts.
In theory, this means suppliers could cut off a household’s electricity or gas without visiting the property, add debt to a meter, remove credit on an account, change the charge levied or turn the meter into a pre-payment device. br>

I have run my energy bill calculator now for the last 10 years, it's free, and I hope it will help many people to be able to control there usage and costs of Electric and Gas and the means to be able to check against comparison sites for the best and lowest suppliers. I am now 93 yrs old and have spent a lot of my retirement making my energy bill calculator easy to understand.
